In this tirumozhi AzhwAr reveals his skill in the art of poetry. Only short vowels are used in all the pASuras. It is nice to read the pASuras and nicer to lead a life as said in them.

1. viyamuDai viDaiyinam uDaitara maDamahaL
kuyamiDai taDavarai ahalamadu uDaiyavar |
nayamuDai naDaiyanam iLaiyavar naDaipayil
kayamiDai kaNapuram aDihaL tam iDamE || One ||

The first two lines describes the divya dESa and the next two that of emberumAn. The divya dESa tirukaNNapuram has plenty of lotus ponds lying close to each other. The swans living there imitate the gait of the beautiful young women who come to take bath or to pluck flowers. emberumAn who defeated the mighty bulls for the sake of nappinnai pirATTi and hugged her with His broad mountain-like tirumArbu.

viyamuDai viDaiyinam –viyam has many meanings of which mighty is appropriately interpreted. It also means different. In this context it can be taken as not ordinary bulls but specially sent by kamsa to kill Him. It also means “sent by”. This meaning also applies as they are sent by kamsa.

2. iNai mali marudinoDu erutira ihal seidu
tuNai mali mulaiyavaL maNamihu kalaviyuL |
maNa mali vizhavinoDu aDiyavar aLaviya
kaNa mali kaNapuram aDihaL tam iDamE || Two ||

In tirukkaNNapuram there are nityOtsavas (daily festivals), pakShOtsavas (festivals of fortnights), mAsOtsavas (monthly festivals) and samvastsarOtsavas (yearly festivals) for which the Sree vaiShNavas happily to enjoy Him. He is the one who felled the twin maruda trees as He crawled between them, defeated the seven powerful bulls to marry nappinnaipirATTi and enjoyed her samslESha.

3. puyaluru varai mazhai pozhitara maNinirai
mayaluru varai kuDai eDuviya neDiyavar |
muyal tuzhar miLai muyal tuLa vaLa viLai vayal
kayal tuLu kaNapuram aDihaL tam iDamE || Three ||

tirukkaNNapuram is the divya dESa which is beautiful with abundant farms. When the farmers pluck weeds with their tools the rabbits that were hiding behind them jump and run away. When they harvest the crop the kayal fish jump out of fear. emberumAn resides in this city who lifted the gOvardhana mountain when indra poured heavy rains purposely to torment the cattle and men of AyarpADi in order to punish them for not offering his food that was due to him.

4. Edalar nahai seya iLaiyavar aLai veNei
pOdu seidu amariya punidar nal virai malar |
kOdiya madukaram kulaviya malar mahaL
kAdal sei kaNapuram aDihaL tam iDamE || Four ||

The bees of tirukkaNNapuram seek the beautiful and fragrant flowers of the forests thinking they will get good honey. But they find the honey not so good. Then they seek the lotus of periyapirATTi and settle on the flower. This divya dESa is the favorite place of periyapirATTi who resides with Him. The emberumAn that you find here is the one who ate butter kept in huge vessels by the AyarpADi young women. It is He who was laughed at by not only the AyarpADi people but also by the kings like SiSupAla.

punidan–Pure. He is pure Himself and make us pure when we think of the roopa, guNa and cEShTitas (navaneeta chouryam) of the supreme Lord.

5. toNDarum amararum munivarum tozhudezhu
aNDamoDu ahaliDam aLandavar amar seidu |
viNDavar paDa madil ilangai mun eri ezha
kaNDavar kaNapuram aDihaL tam iDamE || Five ||

emberumAn measured the upper regions and the vast Boomi with His tiruvaDi. On seeing this trivikramAvatAra the brahmAdi dEvas, nitya sooris and riShis worshiped Him and sang His pray. In Sree rAmAvatara He fought with rAvaNa and his army, destroyed them all setting fire to the city. He resides in tirukkaNNapuram.

6. mazhuviyal paDai uDaiyavaniDam mazhai muhil
tazhuviya urivinar tirumahaL maruviya |
kozhuviya sezhu malar muzhusiya paravai paN
ezhuviya kaNapuram aDihaL tam iDamE || Six ||

In tirukkaNNapuram emberumAn resides with periyapirATTi who is born in a lotus which the flowers seek to drink honey. After getting intoxicated by drinking excessive honey they buzz and sing whose sound resounds everywhere. He carries a mazhu in His hand to protect His Baktas without any delay. periyapirATTi is always with Him to talk some nice words about the BAgavatas.

7. paridiyoDu aNi madi pani varai tisai nilam
eridiyoDu ena ina iyalvinar selavinar |
surudiyoDu arumarai muraisolum aDiyavar
karudiya kaNapuram aDihaL tam iDamE || Seven ||

emberumAn is the supreme Lord who controls the pancha Bootas sun, moon and luminaries, the directions etc., He is the niyAmaka since He is the antaryAmi of all. He resides in tirukkaNNapuram where the vaidikas chant the vEdas as they should be with proper swara etc.

8. paDi pulhum aDi iNai palar tozha malar vaihu
koDi pulhu taDavarai ahalamadu uDaiyavar |
muDi pulhu neDu vayal paDai sela aDi malar
kaDi pulhu kaNapuram aDihaL tam iDamE || Eight ||

tirukkaNNapuram has plenty of fertile fields with fully grown crops. When the farmers plough the fields the lotuses that grow as weeds are crushed sending their fragrance everywhere. Here resides emberumAn who measured with His tiruvaDi all the worlds and who has a mountain-like tirumArbu embraced by a periyapirATTi born in a lotus.

9. pulamanu malar misai malar mahaL puNariya
nila mahaL ena ina mahaLirhaL ivaroDum |
vala manu paDaiyuDai maNi vaNar nidi kuvai
kala manu kaNapuram aDihaL tam iDamE || Nine ||

tirukkaNNapuram is not far from the sea. The cargo ships are seen always sailing carrying loads of gold and precious jewels. Here the word nidi means gold “pulangoL nidikkuvayODu puzhaikkaimmA kaLiTTrinamum nalangoL navamaNi kuvayum sumandu engum nAnrosindu kalangaL iyangum mallai” (periya tirumozhi about tirukaDal mallai). Here resides emberumAn with Sree dEvi and Boo dEvi on either side carrying cakrAyudha in His right hand looking like a huge brilliant sapphire.

10. mali puhaL kaNapuram uDaiya emmaDihaLai
vali kezhu madiLaiyal vayalaNi mangaiyar |
kaliyanadu tamizhivai vizhumiya isaiyinoDu
olisolum aDiyavar urutuyar ilarE || Ten ||

tirumangai AzhwAr, the chief of tirumangai city which is guarded by strong forts, has sung these ten tamizh pASuras on emberumAn residing in tirukkaNNapuram which is rich in beautiful cities and strong forts. Those who read and sing them will be a rid off their prArabdha karmas also.
