He is puNDareekAkSha who lives in tiruvazhundoor; who took narasimha avatAra and split open the powerful chest of the asura hiraNya; who has SanKa in His left hand and chakra in His right hand; who is worshipped by the brAhmaNas living there (who are like brahma born of a lotus). i saw Him in this divya dESa and worshipped Him.

ayan anaiyAr—The vaidikas in this divya dESa are like brahma in all respects (or) they are like him since they chant vEdas always like he does.

AzhwAr says that he saw Him in tErazhundoor and worshipped Him. It is He took who paraSurAma avatAra and killed the kShatriyas in order to reduce the Boomi BAra with His axe as the killing weapon. He is the muzhu neer vaNNan and moovA vAnavan. He takes pity on His Baktas and shower blessings on them.

emberumAn, the sarvESwara is the creator of all the worlds. He once killed bANAsura and made Siva run away from the battle in fear (where He threw His chakrAyudha). He destroyed the lankApuri and rAvaNa kula along with his army in the battle at lanka. He resides in tiruvazhundoor where i saw and worshipped Him to find my life fruitful.

Our swAmi is the one who lifted the gOvardhana mountain as an umbrella to prevent the rain from destroying the cattle and AyarpADi folks. He is the pOrEru who killed the crocodile to save gajEndra from getting killed by Him. It is He who stole all the butter from all the houses of AyarpADi and felt happy about it. He resides in tiruvazhundoor where i saw Him till my eyes are satisfied.

aruL Seida pOrEru—emberumAn saved gajEndra from the clutches of the crocodile. This act is not called ‘aruL’ here. It means that the BagavAn accepted the lotus held high in His trunk which he plucked in order to offer it to His tiruvaDi and was caught by a wicked crocodile when he was plucking the flower. He was holding the flower still, even at the cost of his life. BagavAn took it from Him and this is the ‘aruL’.

aNiyazhundoor ninrAnai—kaNNan stole the butter from all the houses. Not only did He steal the butter etc. but stole the hearts of all the AyarpADi folks. Here too in tiruvazhundoor He stands only to steal the minds of the worshippers by His charm.

AzhwAr continues—‘i saw Him in tennazhundai who killed kamsa with great anger, who resides in tirukaNNamangai, who sucked the life the wicked pootana along with her milk and who is as beautiful as a dark mountain.

AzhwAr likes tiruvazhundoor perumAn so much that he forgets all other divya dESa perumAn. Hence emberumAn of tirukaNNamangai suddenly appears before Him. Immediately AzhwAr says ‘kaNNamangaiyuL ninrAnai’.

emberumAn is the sarvESwara. He is difficult to understand even by brahma, dEvEndra and Siva. So what to talk of other dEvas and men? He is worshipped by the vaidikas of tiruvazhundoor. Him i worshipped in this divya dESa and felt the joy of my life.

i was pleased to see Him who has pirATTi in His tirumArbu; who is the pancha Boota including the quarters; who is the air which has the property of sound; who is formless and resides in tiruvazhundoor like a karpaga tree well rooted to the ground.

olisErum mArudattai—Each Boota takes the guNa of its cause including its own particular guNa. For example the air takes the guNa of its cause, the AkASa; which is sound along with its own guNa, saprSa. siranda kAliraNDumAi (tiruchchanda viruttam of tiumazhisai AzhwAr).

karuvAr karpahattai—karu means footers. Here it means roots. Our swAmi stands in this divya dESa like a karpaga tree well fixed to the ground by roots. He is the karuvAr karpaha in contrast with the karpaga tree of the swarga which has no roots.

Our emberumAn resides in tiruvazhundoor where Sree vaiShNavas chant four vEdas like the roaring sea. He is the one who has taken me as His trusted dAsa, who is the consort of Boomi pirATTi and who is the subject matter of all the vEdas.

nilaiyALAha ennai uhandAnai—In the world we see people desiring to get something. If the object is got after much toil, the desire for that object ends. AzhwAr says He has the desire to get Him. After much effort he will get Him. But his desire will not stop at it. He will not turn His attention to something else.

kalaiyAr SorporuLAi—He is the object of puruShArtha and He is possessed by all the SAstras.

i enjoyed His darSan in tErazhundoor. It is He who is in tiruppEr and tirukkuDandai; who is the consort of periya pirATTi and who is as sweet as nectar. He likes to reside in this diyva dESa.

tirumangai AzhwAr has sang these ten pASuras on emberumAn of tiruvazhundoor where there are vaidikas who are equal to subramaNya in their valour. Those who read them will go to paramapada and be the ruler there.

karai neDu vEl valavan—tirumangai AzhwAr has a spear which is blood stained. He is so busy in Bagavat and BAgavata kainkarya that he has no time to clean it.
